Anglers helping CF gene researchers at celebrity S.L.A.M. in Key West
KEY WEST, Florida -- As medical scientists move closer to catching the cure for cystic fibrosis, anglers in the Florida Keys are lending their efforts by catching and releasing fish in Redbone tournaments to fund the gene research which will soon change thousands of CF patients lives.
Gander Mountain Takes Nearly 10,000 Kids Fishing at Minnesota State Fair
ST. PAUL, MN --- As clean-up continues after a record-setting 12-day run at the Minnesota State Fair, the numbers for Gander Mountain's popular exhibit are turning heads. Gander Mountain's free fishing pond, a collaboration with KIDFISH, hosted an average of 800 kids per day during the fair, and well over 1,000 on some weekend days, meaning that an estimated 9,600 kids got to try fishing, for free, during the Great Minnesota Get-Together.

WHAT: The 2012 Walmart BFL season continues with seven division-ending super tournaments on Saturday, Sept. 15. The Buckeye division holds its final tournament of the season on Indian Lake, the Choo Choo division wraps up on Lake Guntersville, the Gator division finishes on Lake Okeechobee, the Michigan division closes out on the Detroit River, the LBL division has its final event on Lake Barkley, the Northeast division closes on Lake Champlain and the Okie division finishes on Grand Lake. Up to 400 boaters and co-anglers will be competing in each event for top awards up to $11,000 and $4,500 respectively.

FERNANDINA BEACH, Fla. - Last year nearly 23 percent of hunters lost access to land they had previously hunted, while just over 20 percent of anglers had to change or cancel plans to fish because certain waters or access points were no longer open to them. One reason for this lost access is due to development. Between 1982 and 1997, 41.3 million acres of rural land were turned into subdivisions, malls, office parks and the like. Dropped keys needn't spoil the fun of a boating or lakeside excursion. The compact Davis Key Buoy inflates automatically as soon as it hits the water to prevent keys from sinking.

Hunting & Fishing Day Events at West Virginia’s Stonewall Resort State Park Sept. 22-23
ROANOKE, W.Va. - The West Virginia Division of Natural Resources (DNR), together with the West Virginia Wildlife Federation, will be hosting West Virginia's Annual Celebration of National Hunting and Fishing Day (NH&FD) on Sept. 22 and 23. The event will again be held at Stonewall Resort State Park near Weston, conveniently located off Exit 91 of Interstate 79.
